How to choose Fix End of the Buckles on the FIA & SFI Racing Harness?

■ Three types of fixed-end choices:

The choice primarily depends on the driver’s personal habits and the goal of ensuring a fast, intuitive exit during an emergency.

While they offer the same level of safety when installed correctly, the following key considerations should be considered:

Most drivers prefer the release buckle to stay on the side of their dominant hand for a quicker and more natural release during an emergency escape.

Ensure the buckle location is not obstructed by the gear shifter, handbrake, or other interior switches.

Consider your most likely exit direction. Some racing regulations or vehicle types favor one side for a faster bail-out.

Always check specific series rules (such as FIA) for any requirements regarding buckle orientation.

Proper Installation for Racing Harness

Regardless of the side you choose, safety depends on these three factors:

Snug Fit:

The lap belt must sit firmly over the upper thighs/pelvis, and shoulder straps should cross the center of the shoulders and chest.

No Twists:

Ensure all webbing is flat. Twisted straps significantly reduce the harness’s effectiveness during an impact.

Smooth Function:

The buckle must lock and release instantly. Our racing harnesses feature a quick-release mechanism designed for high-pressure environments.
